MOPPETS

MOPPETS Childcare Policies:

  • Your Child’s Belongings: Label everything. Label, Label, Label. We want to make sure that the personal items that your child uses are theirs! Please make sure all sippy cups, bottles, snack containers, loveys, pacifiers, diaper bags, backpacks, etc. are labeled with first and last name. We will provide name tags for your child. You will also need to supply diapers/pull ups for your child, if applicable. If you don’t already pack a change of clothes in your diaper bag or preschooler’s backpack, please also include those for emergencies. We have a very small selection of emergency clothes available.
  • Arrival and Pickup Times: All children may be dropped off at 9:15am. Workers will not be available to watch your children until that time. Please be respectful of the time. If special arrangements need to be made, please contact the MOPPETS Coordinator, Amy Uppercue as soon as possible. Children must be picked up immediately following the MOPS meeting. Please feel free to pick up your child and return to the MOPS meeting room to visit with the other moms.
  • Drop off and Pick up Guidelines: Babies, Creepers and Toddlers are dropped off in the Church Nursery. Please sign them in at the front counter, making sure to write any special instructions or allergies down on the sign-in sheet and your child’s name tag. Please be sure to take a pager so that you can be reached immediately if needed. When picking up your child, please wait at the front counter for your child to be brought to you. For security reasons, we ask that you do not go behind the counter at drop off or pick up times. Your child’s safety and your piece of mind about your child’s safety is very important to us. Please be sure to return your pager when you pick up your child. Two year olds will need to be dropped off in FLC 5, 3 year olds - 5 year olds will be in FLC 6.
  • Illness Policy: A child will not be allowed to attend MOPPETS if they have any of these symptoms:

Excessive coughing, sneezing, runny nose (unless slight and clear)

Fever within the last 24 hours

Questionable rash or skin infection

Vomiting for ANY reason within the last 24 hours

Diarrhea within the last 24 hours

*A doctor’s note can clear a child if he/she has symptoms but is non-contagious, and will be kept on file by the MOPPETS Coordinator.

You will be notified immediately if your child develops any of these symptoms during the meeting.

  • Snacks: We supply snacks and juice for toddlers and up. If your child has any allergies or restrictions, please write it on their name tag, as well as the allergy tags provided and inform the MOPPETS Coordinator. If you would prefer to send a snack with your child from home, please let us know when you drop off your child. In the event that a special snack is given, you will be notified in advance. Our snacks include Cheerios, Gerber Puffs, Goldfish, Pretzels and Animal Crackers. Snacks given are age appropriate to each group.
* Children 2 and up are asked to wear sneakers because they often go outside to play.

MOPPETS CURRICULUM
Our 2-5 year olds will be working through a new curriculum, "Lively Bible Lessons for MOPPETS" over the course of the year. The curriculum is intentionally compiled and designed to fit the mold for the preschool aged child. The entire curriculum is broken down into four parts:
  • A lively look at myself - This section covers topics that help young children with fear, responsibility, envy and self-esteem.
  • A lively look at my relationships - These topics include kindness, helping those who are hurting, sharing, friendship, feelings and caring for God's world.
  • A lively look at my faith - These faith-building topics include heaven, prayer, God's love, forgiveness, and more about God and his Son, Jesus.
  • A lively look at celebrations - This section offers Bible lessons and celebrations for birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Our younger MOPPETS will also participate in activities that are more age appropriate for their group while hearing a Bible story or dancing to praise and worship music. Our number one intention for MOPPETS is to show every child the love of Jesus during their time with us.

Steering Team

Nicole Harper -
MOPS Coordinator

Nicole has been in MOPS for three years and this is her second year serving as Coordinator, “I love being around people. Being a stay-at-home mom can be isolating, but I love that MOPS gets me out and around other moms. It isn’t just social. I also love learning from the speakers and other moms.” Prior to joining MOPS, Nicole was an elementary school teacher and loved (almost) every minute of it.

Nicole loves the outdoors, but hates the Florida heat. You’ll find her outside when the weather cools off doing all sorts of fun things with her family - beach, parks, on the boat, the backyard- anything outdoors.

Most influential person to Nicole: My mom. She raised two very different daughters with love, grace, mercy and lots of patience. She showed me how you can love two very different children in two very special ways.

Kim Innes - Hospitality

Coming Soon!

Amy Uppercue - MOPPETS
Amy has been in MOPS for two years. Not only is she the MOPPETS Coordinator, she also works as the Nursery Coordinator for Stetson Baptist Church and is great with children, "I want my children to know that the love of Jesus is greater than any other love they will ever know."

Amy is married to her husband Craig and has a beautiful daughter and one sweet pup!

In her spare time, Amy enjoys sewing and all sorts of other crafty things...and she's really good ;)

Fun Fact: My favorite book of the Bible is Ruth.

Jennifer Shaver - Publicity
Jennifer has been in MOPS for two years, "MOPS is a great group of women. I love getting to know everyone and bonding through all of our 'mom moments'."

Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, Jennifer worked in the Marketing & PR industry. She has been married to her husband Geoff for almost five years and they have one daughter.

Jennifer enjoys crafty hobbies - scrapbooking, embroidery and making seasonal home decorations.

Most influential person to Jennifer: By far my mom. She's lived out the example I want to be for my family, both as a wife and mother. I just love her to pieces!

Susan Garrison -
Discussion Group Leader

Susan has been a MOPS mom for six years. Having lived all over the state of Florida, Susan got her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida. Susan has been married to her high school sweetheart, Brian, for 13 years. Together they have three wonderful and playful boys – Riley, Ezra and Isaac.

Susan joined MOPS after first moving to the area and didn’t know anyone. Year after year she finds MOPS to be an oasis where she can be refreshed, inspired and encouraged while meeting new friends, “I leave the meetings ready to be the best mom, wife and child of God that I can be.”

Fun fact: In high school, I marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade wearing basically a bathing suit and froze my buns off!

Hannah Hoffmann -
Discussion Group Leader & Finance
Hannah has been a MOPS mom for six years. Originally from Georgia, Hannah went to UGA and is married to her husband Kris and has three boys - Luke, Eli and Judah.

Hannah enjoys reading and blogging when she's not busy being a mom.

Fun Fact: I met and married my husband in a span of less than five months and it's the best thing that ever happened to me :)

Corinne Kanski -
Discussion Group Leader
Corrine has been in MOPS for two years and loves MOPS, "MOPS has made me feel important and significant, and everything that God envisions me to be."

Originally from Pennsylvania, Corinne is married and has two children. Not only a mom, Corinne is also currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Christian Counseling.

Fun Fact: I've been on stage with Michael W. Smith.

Amy Orlando -
Discussion Group Leader

Amy has been in MOPS for three years and feels that MOPS encourages her to be a better mom, “I want my child to love God, love nature, respect others and love life.”

Amy also graduated from the University of Florida and loves nature, gardening and making fun projects with her son. Amy and her family enjoy eating dinner together and going on walks.

Fun fact: I owned and operated a chocolate store after college. YUM!
